Important Registration Information

Important:  Consider creating a screen name that will not reveal your "true identity"!  WUFN is not yet able to allow anonymous individual postings.  A nonspecific screen name, such as newstlmom may make you feel more comfortable posting questions and advice than jill-arthistory-phd.  Alternatively, there is a separate section for completely anonymous Q&A in the Anonymous Discussion section of this site.

Welcome to the Washington University Family Network (WUFN) network!  We are glad you have decided to join our community, and we look forward to your participation. Before you begin, however, we ask that you accept the terms of this Membership Agreement. It is important that you understand both the services we provide as well as your obligations.

WUFN consists of the Washington University Family Network site and any other web site, event or program that we identify as a part of the WUFN network program.

We offer the following Community Services via our forums, archives, calendars and message boards:
•   friends and group lists and other social networking tools
•   Member activity pages
•   photo albums
•   videos
•   blogs
•   chat areas
•   groups
•   comments

Only Members are permitted access to certain portions of our website.  To qualify as a “Member” you must be affiliated with Washington University in Saint Louis (WU), meaning you are:
•   A WU faculty, staff member, trainee or student or
•    A spouse or partner of a WU faculty, staff member, trainee or student and
•   Able to give a current WUSTL email address (either your own or your spouse/partner’s) as proof of that affiliation.

By completing the registration process, you are accepting the following terms and conditions of this Membership Agreement:

1.   This is a family friendly website, please act accordingly. We will not tolerate offensive, harassing or demeaning language.  Your postings should be G-rated.  If you have a comment or a differing opinion to a posting, respond politely and professionally.   Remember, we cannot control what others say.  We are not responsible for nor do we endorse the opinions shared among Members.

2.   If you misbehave, we will remove any offensive material you post and we may terminate your Membership. Please report anyone who misbehaves using our website.  We have the exclusive right to determine the meaning of “misbehave.”

3.   Be smart and keep your personal information private.  You may never rely on your messages being confidential or private, even if addressed to one person.

4.   Be considerate and keep the personal information of others private.   Any communications sent to you personally concerning your participation in the Community Services or related matters are not intended to be made public, and you agree not to post those communications in the Community Services or elsewhere on the Internet.

5.   You may not harvest or collect information about other Members from WUFN, including usernames, or use that information for the purpose of sending unsolicited bulk communications. You may not use or provide to any person or entity, whether or not for a fee, any directory of or information regarding other Members.

6.   Marketing your personal business (or that of your friends and family) is not permitted. The Community Services is not a forum for advertising or solicitations.

7.   You may not use this service to upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise use any Community Service to make or distribute any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, contests, sweepstakes, survey requests or promotional materials or implore visitors to take actions that are intended to further a personal purpose.

8.   We will do our best to make the Community Services available at all times, but we cannot guarantee it.  Be patient and forgive us for interruptions.

9.   Discussion groups are designed for information sharing among Members.  Be truthful, brief, factual and objective in your postings.  Malicious, offensive or derogatory language will not be tolerated.

10.   You understand that using the internet may subject your information and computer to inadvertent damage, corruption or destruction.  Only you are responsible for backing up, on your own computer, any content and emails that are important to you.  We do not take responsibility for any damage you may suffer by using the Community Service and our website.

11.   We have exclusive control of this Membership Agreement and this website, which means we can change any term, condition, policy and any aspect of the WUFN at any time without notice to you. You should visit this page periodically to review the most current provisions.   If you violate this Membership Agreement or misbehave, you may have your Membership terminated without notice and be forever banned from using the Community Services.
