What are good resources for babysitters? (e.g., agencies, online sources, colleges or high schools)

I have posted with the Financial Services office on the Danforth Campus and have had some great babysitters from Wash U. I have also used TLC for Kids with great success, but it is expensive.

"WU School of Social Work - publishes list in the fall of students interested in work
Fontbonne - good early child education program
TLC - part-time nannies aka babysitters - good source for last minute or one stop care"

"George W. Brown School of Social Work at WU has a list of its grad students available for sitting put out regularly: Their info sheet says "If you have any general questions about the list, please email
voicesforchildren@gwbmail.wustl.edu. This will put you in contact with the current list administrator. As this list is generated by a student group, the administrator will change." You can also post a sitting request at http://www.gwbweb.wustl.edu/virtualgwb/faces/.
every year. This email address, however, will always put you in contact with the current
administrator."

We have used T.L.C., a business in University City, for lining up babysitters.  The pros:  they have had universally excellent sitters, and they do background checks and screening.  The cons:  they have a 4-hour minimum for babysitters, and coupled with that, they charge you a fee (approx $10) for every time a person sits for you--even if you do the work to line it up.  This makes them an expensive operation with a minimum charge ($10-12/hour for 4 hours) plus their fee.  They do not offer detailed billing statements and simply charge your credit card once per month.  We have found a couple of errors in their accounting for charges, and the lack of a detailed billing statement from them doesn't let you easily work out what the specifics are.

NannyMall LLC. They are a fabulous agency and much more economic than TLC. The nannies are great!
